| Having Trouble Connecting to our Secure Web Server ? |

This could be due to several factors such as the server being down
for some reason, the internet connection between our sites being
disrupted, etc. We do our best to ensure the server remains up and
running continuously. Given that you are able to read this page,
the chances are that your web browser is not set up correctly.
Our Secure Web Server uses 'strong' encryption to ensure your interaction with it remains confidential. Your web broswer must also support 'strong' encryption, which is also known as 128 bit encryption. Most modern browsers support this but due to US export regulations on encryption, there are many browser installations that are set to the lower strength, 56-bit, encryption. We have seen this problem on several occasions with Microsoft Internet Explorer installations and you should check this out before anything else. In Internet Explorer, go to the 'Help' menu and select the 'About Internet Explorer' option. This will pop up a window that tells you the version of the browser. Look for a line that begins 'Cipher Strength'. This should say '128-bit'. If yours says '56-bit' then you need to upgrade your browser. You should either ask your Systems Support staff for assistance, or click the link immediately to the right called 'Update Information'. This takes you to a Microsoft site that will let you download what they refer to as the 'Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack'. Follow their instructions for selecting and installing the new version. On starting that up you should be able to access the site. If that still doesn't work then you should probably talk to you local Systems Support staff. Possibly your company 'firewall' will not allow access to secure sites, perhaps you need configure the browser to use a proxy server. |
